Research tips for PBCC students

Find books	Use LINCCQWeb library catalog to find books owned by PBCC libraries To expand your search beyond PBCC try WorldCat or Google Books
Find articles on a topic	Choose a database from A-Z list, choose On Campus or Off Campus (type borrower ID and PIN), and search by keyword, author, publication, etc. Retrieve article(s) - citation(s) and full text PBCC Multi-database searching Search Google Scholar, then find PBCC database containing journal with article
Find a specific periodical title (magazine, newspaper, or academic journal)	On Campus or Off Campus Print copy on library shelf: Limit by format "Serials" in LINCCWeb library catalog, then retrieve from shelf
Find free books and periodicals on the web	Online books and periodicals
Find a database	By title or by subject
Find items on Reserve	Use the Reserves tab of the LINCCWeb library catalog to find books, practice exams, and other items placed on reserve by faculty

PBCC subscribes to many databases in order to access reference and periodical articles.</p>

These databases are available on and off campus. The access differs according to each. Database access on campus requires no login. Instructions for off campus access are below.

Other academic periodical database possibilities

Google Scholar: Useful for searching academic journals and other materials. To retrieve full text articles, many are available at PBCC libraries, online or on the shelf. Consult the list of online databases at PBCC or Ask a librarian (Belle Glade, 561.993.1192; Lake Worth, 561.868.3712; Palm Beach Gardens, 561.207.5801) for more information.

PBCC Library: The library is the first place to look in order to find academic resources such as credible websites, books, and periodical articles

Books: (1) To search the PBCC library collection, use the library catalog (LINCCWeb) to search for all materials in library; (2) Search Worldcat for books in libraries nearby
ebooks (electronic books) searchable in databases at PBCC with two options: (1) PBCC library catalog, use library catalog (LINCCWEB); (2) Netlibrary ebooks (OCLC); See also Google Books for books online (limited access)

JSTOR is 100% academic journal articles
Many other databases such as Academic Search Complete and other databases contain full text academic journals with magazine and newspaper articles; limit search results to peer-reviewed or academic journals
